Sakhalin is a real fishing paradise, even its shape is similar to fish. There are about 60,000 different rivers and streams on the island, which huge schools of salmon rush into to spawn from the sea every year.
From May to November, almost all types of Pacific salmon rush into the Sakhalin rivers.
In May - June sima (salmon trout) is actively going on, in July-August – humpbacked salmon, in September-November – keta (chun salmon) and kizuch (silver salmon).
